I'm about to share my true personal story. If you believe me, you will

Who Am I?

I am Timothy "Tim" Turner, a 56 year old engineer in Los Angeles,
California USA.

As a man who loves to figure out and build stuff by myself, I thought
woodworking was a perfect hobby to enjoy deeply.

Also, the idea that I can contribute to family and community by making
woodworks for them was fascinating.

So, it was 14 years back, 1996, when I chose woodworking as my lifelong
hobby.

After mastering basic tools and power tools for 3 months, I started my
first woodwork, a table.

However, I failed making a table. TWICE. As a skillful engineer, I was
very disappointed when I FAILED 2 tables. It literally took 13 months
to finish my first table.

Though I was proud of myself not giving up and my wife congratulated
me, I was not satisfied with my table.

WHY? Simply because it was not as fancy as I had planned in my head.

What hurt me more than money and time was the feeling of failure.

People laugh at me when they realize that this took me 13months.

One Envious Day

And one day, I went over to see my old friend, Andrew, and he had great
cabinets, a table, chairs, a bench in his backyard, which he told me
that he all made them!

It really shocked me. He told me that he used plans designed by his
father who had done woodworking for more than 30 years.

Just like a famous chef hands down his secret recipe to only his
children, Andrew's father left his detailed plans as one of his
bequests.

Yes, to be honest, I was jealous, I envied him.

Because those plans looked really good, I almost begged Andrew if I
could borrow his father's plans.

Seriously, following the step by step blueprints, making table was way
easier, and I could make anything as long as there was corresponding
plan. Certainly, my woodworking career became more fun and addicting
thereafter.

The Obesession, the Vendetta, the Surprise

Past 6 years, I have been obsessed to collect more than 12066 plans to
make the "Master collection of plans" for myself which allows me to
make whatever I wanted to make, just like Andrew's secret "stash" but
better.

And last christmas, I put my database on DVD and gave to my best friend
Andrew as a Christmas present.

It was my payback time to Andrew since he taught me how woodworking
could be so fun when he let me borrow his father's woodworking plans.
(Yes, it was the cheapest present ever given to him, but...)

Few days later, he called me back and he told me he so loved it! He
even said that it was the best present ever. So I felt good about it,
and nothing special happened on that day.

However, horrifying incident occurred two weeks after.

The Weirdest, the Most Dramatic Week of My Life!

A random guy called me and asked me if he could buy my woodworking
plans. I was shocked, then I asked him how do he know about my plans?

And he said he saw some parts of my plans and heard about it. I replied
him that I'm not a professional woodworker and my plans were not made
for sales.

I was shocked, so I ask him to call me back in 15 minutes, then I hung
up.

The plans was just for me, and I had not told about it to anyone except
Andrew, so I called Andrew and asked him if he knows anything about
this.

He chuckled and told me that he loved my present so much that he could
not resist brag about it, and he showed it to his golf buddies.

And he let them borrow my plans. And the people had only few days to
experience the plans and they really liked them, so they then wanted to
possess my plans.

And I guess over those two weeks, things about my plans spread virally
from mouth to mouth, and someone finally called me to buy it.

The Birth of Woodworking Elite

For next few days, I was getting similar inquiries thru phone and email
from different people. I felt like I'm losing my own quiet life.
